The Importance of Gaining Link Popularity
Posted by biohubieran on 13 января 2011
Link popularity makes up one aspect of SEO (search engine optimisation), which is all about increasing the amount of traffic to your website in order to make it more popular within the search engines. It is one of the most important aspects of search engine optimisation. Without it the search engines assume that you don’t really have much to offer and therefore won’t rank your site in the best positions in the search results.
You may have the best website relating to your subject area but you won’t be successful without any inbound links. But what exactly is link popularity? It relates to the number of incoming links to your website. These can come from a number of places such as business directories, web directories, articles and of course from other websites that relate to your site. To put it in simple terms, it is like a vote of confidence from one site to another.
The reason that it is such an important part of the SEO process is down to the fact that the search engines like to rank sites that are popular, so if you have links coming into your website from a variety of others, this tells the search engines that your site must have something to offer your viewing audience and that it is trusted. So with this in mind the more inbound links that your site has the better the website link popularity is. However these links shouldn’t just come from anywhere; you need good quality links coming into your website if you want to be picked up by the search engines and these links should be coming from websites that hold some sort of relevance to your site.
Two of the main ways that link popularity takes place is through two-way link exchanges and one-way submission. Two way is when a link will be added to your website that takes the visitor to another website and a link back to your website will be placed on their website. One-way submission is when links back to your website are added to aspects such as directories but there is no need for a link to be placed on your site that takes the visitor back to the directory.
As well as the above two methods, you can also increase your link popularity through aspects such as article writing. By writing and submitting articles to article directories people will use these articles on their websites so when people visit their site they could potentially end up at your site.
One of the most important aspects of this form of SEO however is making sure you are gaining inbound links from sites that are relevant to yours. So if your site is promoting certain products or services or providing information about a particular niche market then you need to ensure that you are exchanging links with sites that are also based within this niche market so you are reaching out to the right target audience.
Link popularity is valuable to your search ranking so when you are undertaking your Internet marketing make sure you include it. Just follow the tips that are mentioned above and you should have no problem when it comes to gaining inbound links to your website.
