How much time you spend cleaning hardwood floors depends on you, the type of hardwood floor you have and how much foot traffic your floors receive on a daily basis. For low foot traffic areas, cleaning two times a week should be enough. High foot traffic areas should be cleaned more often than that.

The best way to clean your tank is to use hot water and a rag to wipe it out, and be careful when handling acrylic tanks as they will scratch. Also, cleaning pads and steel wool pads should be avoided.

Any decorations or wood you plan to use in your tropical fish aquariums must be prepared first - they cannot just go straight into your tank. Substrates are full of impurities and dirt, so to properly prepare it you should place it in a clean container and cover it with water. Stir the gravel and allow it to soak for one full day. Then dump out the water and refill using more clean water, stirring it one more time. Continue to repeat this until the water is totally clear. This is how you know that all the dirt has been removed and you can put the gravel or sand into your tank.

It is important that you have the right accessories in your tropical fish aquariums. Set up and test your filter and heater to make sure they function properly. Allow them to run for at least a few days before adding fish to your tank. Be sure that your thermometer is giving you an accurate reading of your water temperature, as well. You should also check the pH and other chemical levels.
